On a Dall sheep hunt with a friend, I learned a few things about what goes into pursuing these hoofed white noble creatures. Dall sheep hunting is essentially mountaineering in camouflage. Rams tend to like higher vantage points in craggy cliffed-out areas, where ewes and lambs tend to be lower down in valleys and drainages. It is incredibly difficult to determine if a ram is legal to take. A trigger should never be pulled unless you are 100-percent positive it is a legal animal and that it can be recovered safely.
